well i've been back for a little over a week from Belize. here's a break down of what we did. My rants may not make sense to you, but it makes sense to me lol There's so much to talk about so i'll post a day by day basis with some thoughts on my experience. Jan 1st left at 3am, delayed flight in baltimore, missed connecting flight in miami (miami airport has gross food) then finally made it to belize after 12 hours. Took a nice 45 min trip to the Burmerdian Landing and met up with Pastor Floyd and shortly after dropping our luggage at our house (community library with toilets that required pouring buckets of water to flush), we went to Rancho DeFlores to invite kids and parents to vacation bible study and a service tomorrow evening. The people are very friendly and want to talk with us, probably cuz we were foreign asian people. Of course we had to avoid mud ponds, piles of cow doodoo, and stray dogs, but all of this was in 70 degree sunny weather that was SOOOO AMAZING. Remember this is my first trip mission trip so going up to strangers in a different land/continent is pretty bold. Luckly english is the official language of Belize but add some creole and accents, i would say it's a different language. My heart was racing for a bit but after the first few people I was sharing and talking without being nervous. Maybe it's because the first few people were so receptive and warm to us. (probably because they had nothing to do and welcomed anything we had to offer) We are dinner together at the pastor's house. All the belize food is very similar to Vietnamese food. the curry is like vietnamese curry and this fried bread "fried jacks" are like the vietnamese style fried bed. Everyone at the church was so wonderful. I felt like I was home. Lesson 1. Be bold. Don't be ashamed of the gospel. 2. The family of God extends beyond the people we know. How am I sure? Because the uncanny love I received and expressed by the local church comes from no one else but God.
